Advantages and disadvantages of Waterborne UV wood paint and single and two-component waterborne wood paint!

In response to the requirements of environmental protection, single and two-component waterborne wood paint and Waterborne UV wood paint are widely used in the wood furniture industry. This paper briefly compares the advantages and disadvantages of these three kinds of wood paint, so that users can choose the most suitable products.

1、 Advantages and disadvantages of one component waterborne wood paint.

At present, the application of one component waterborne wood paint in pine children’s furniture and outdoor paint is very mature, and has occupied more than half of the market share.

Water based wood paint has flexible film, high transparency, fast drying and good adhesion; With the progress of paint making technology, the film fullness, water resistance, chemical resistance, hardness and scratch resistance of the products have also been significantly improved, which can meet the furniture coating requirements of facade systems such as cabinets, wallboards, bookshelves, display cabinets, beds, etc.

Look at the shortcomings of one component waterborne wood paint. The water-based paint takes water as the diluent, which will change the moisture content of wood in the process of use. The change of wood moisture content will lead to wood swelling, bending and deformation, so it increases the construction difficulty of the water-based paint.

In addition, the water-based paint is suitable for being thinner to make open effect and semi closed effect, so it should be more refined during processing and polishing.

Because the one component water-based paint forms a film by the natural evaporation of water, there are certain requirements for the construction temperature and humidity, and the drying speed of the paint film is slow, the degree of cross-linking is not high, the paint film formed is not dense enough, and the quality of the final film is not guaranteed. Therefore, the hardness, scratch resistance, chemical resistance and sealing effect of the one component water-based paint are not high.

Therefore, one component water-based paint is not suitable for painting furniture with high hardness requirements, such as table, floor and other plane systems, and it is also difficult to seal the floating of grease for pine wood with much grease.

2、 Advantages and disadvantages of two-component waterborne wood paint.

Two component waterborne wood paint has better comprehensive performance than one component waterborne wood paint. This is because the curing agent is added on the basis of one component waterborne paint to assist in film formation, so that the film-forming polymer has a chemical reaction, forms a network structure, and finally forms a paint film, rather than relying solely on the natural evaporation of water to form a physical film, which greatly improves the performance of the paint film. ‍

Due to the chemical reaction, the comprehensive properties of the paint film have been significantly improved, especially the water resistance, chemical resistance, stain resistance, adhesion resistance, hardness, scratch resistance, scald resistance, wear resistance and other properties.

The hardness of the paint film can reach 2h, and its performance can be comparable to that of the traditional Pu oil paint. It can be completely applied to the furniture coating of the plane system to meet the needs of hardness and scratch resistance. It can also be used as a sealing primer and a one component waterborne wood paint, which can effectively seal the oil and tannin of wood.

Anti yellowing agent bettersol 1830w has excellent performance in two-component waterborne wood paint, which can effectively increase the weather resistance and yellowing resistance of wood paint.

Disadvantages of two-component waterborne wood paint. Although the two-component water-based paint depends on curing agent to increase the film performance of the water-based paint, it has a certain impact on the environmental protection of the water-based paint, which will increase some VOC emissions and odor.

At the same time, the coating cost of two-component waterborne wood paint is also much higher than that of one component waterborne wood paint. For furniture enterprises, the increase of coating cost is relatively difficult to be accepted by furniture enterprises.
