Simple Classification of UV Resins

UV resin, known as photosensitive resin, is an oligomer that can undergo physical and chemical changes in a short time after being exposed to light, and then crosslink and solidify. UV resin is mainly divided into solvent based UV resin and water-based UV resin.

Solvent based UV resin

Common solvent based UV resins mainly include: UV unsaturated polyester, UV epoxy acrylate, UV polyurethane acrylate, UV polyester acrylate, UV polyether acrylate, UV pure acrylic resin, UV epoxy resin, UV silicone oligomer, etc.

Waterborne UV resin

Waterborne UV resin refers to the UV resin that is soluble in water or can be dispersed with water. The molecule contains a certain number of strong hydrophilic groups, such as carboxyl, hydroxyl, amino, ether, and acylamine groups; It also contains unsaturated groups, such as acryloyl, methacryloyl or allyl groups. Waterborne UV trees can be divided into three categories: lotion, water dispersible and water-soluble, mainly including three categories: waterborne polyurethane acrylate, waterborne epoxy acrylate and waterborne polyester acrylate.

The waterborne UV resin generally consists of 80-90% waterborne resin and 10-20% other additives. After coating and polishing, a thin layer composed of polymer is left on the surface of the substrate, which endows the coating with different characteristics due to different formula combinations. Such as high gloss, matt, abrasion resistant, etc.

Waterborne resin is the main component of Z in waterborne UV resin. It determines and affects the properties of waterborne UV resin, such as luster, adhesion, abrasion resistance, dryness, etc. Therefore, the proper selection of waterborne UV resin is the key to the successful deployment of waterborne UV resin.

There are many kinds of resins, including waterborne rosin modified maleic resin, waterborne polyurethane resin, waterborne acrylic resin, waterborne alkyd resin, waterborne amino resin, etc. For waterborne UV resin, the selected resin should have the characteristics of easily soluble salts, good water release, good gloss after film formation, heat resistance, chemical resistance, fast drying speed, etc., while waterborne acrylic copolymer resin can meet the requirements of printing and glazing to a large extent. Therefore, when preparing waterborne UV resin, waterborne acrylic copolymer system becomes our best choice.

Aqueous acrylic copolymer resin can be divided into aqueous acrylic resin solution, aqueous acrylic dispersion, and acrylic lotion. Acrylic lotion can be divided into film-forming acrylic lotion and non film-forming acrylic lotion. The properties of waterborne acrylic copolymer resin are composed of monomers. Performance and synthesis process. Some monomers can improve luster and hardness, while others can provide chemical resistance and adhesion. A lot of experiments have proved that the waterborne UV resin, which is scientifically compounded with aqueous acrylic acid solution and acrylic acid lotion, has ideal properties.
